Aged between 13 and 18 and interested in journalism? We have the very thing for you.
Journalism Club is a 12 week course that will give you skills and experience in writing features for publication. No previous writing experience is necessary - an interest in writing and the world around you will do.
Over the twelve weeks, you will learn the basics of journalism including interview skills, conducting research and how to take an idea from seed to final story. You are free to choose a topic that you care about and to make your own creative decisions along the way. It's your voice we want to hear and our job is to equip you with the tools you need to tell your story.
As well as working with Fighting Words staff and volunteers, there will be opportunities to meet with professional journalists, Allison Morris and Niamh Campbell, as well as Paper Lanterns Literary Journal editorial team. If you decide that you'd like to submit a piece of writing to a newspaper or journal, we will help you with the process. We can't guarantee publication but we can make sure you have the skills and confidence to share your writing with the world.
When's it on?
