Meet Molly Martin, one of our recent volunteers who has so far enjoyed ‘nine brilliant months’ with us, which included supporting our inaugural 12-week ‘Journalism Club’ in late 2021.
A keen writer and illustrator since childhood, Molly says:
“The opportunity to encourage and work with children and young people who love to do the same was a no-brainer! I find great joy in seeing wild imaginations, creativity, forward thinking ideas, and just having fun with words, so becoming a Fighting Words NI volunteer mentor has been a delight.
And like all our volunteers, she gets huge personal rewards from giving her time to us. Her favourite thing is:
“Seeing the pride in the faces of the young people when they face and overcome challenges, learning from the young people and watching the unfolding of great ideas from great young minds.”
We ask all the volunteers we profile to share a fact about themselves, whether an achievement, claim to fame or having named their cat after a literary figure. Molly has taken this opportunity to argue the case for her favourite snack, the chocolate covered raisin, which she says is tragically ‘underrated’.
