Young playwrights’ programme with Fighting Words Belfast and the Lyric Theatre
In this showcase of rehearsed readings, professional directors & actors brought to life brand-new plays by NI’s newest playwrights (aged 14-18). The Right Twig was a series of in-depth workshops in early 2019, bringing together young Belfast writers & giving them the chance to learn from theatre artists, see performances & create plays of their own. Writers have to start somewhere, and playwrights have it the hardest: Scripts need lots of collaboration – not to mention performers and an audience – before they start to take shape. THE RIGHT TWIG gave young people in Belfast (ages 14-18) the chance to write new pieces for the stage, and see professional directors and actors bring them to life.
