THE RIGHT TWIG: RADIO 2020

Scriptwriting workshops for young writers

WANT TO WRITE FOR RADIO? Give it a shot...

THE RIGHT TWIG: RADIO 2020 will give 8 young people ages 14-18 the chance to write their own short radio play for broadcast, collaborating with professional directors, actors and sound designers to bring it to life.

The free online workshop series, run by Fighting Words NI, The Playhouse and Riverside Theatre, is open to young writers (especially from Coleraine, Derry~Londonderry, Donegal and the North Coast area) who want to learn from professionals about scriptwriting and creating new work for radio. We’ll work from the foundations up – so you’re welcome whether you’re trying scriptwriting for the first time or want to dive deeper.

“It was spellbinding to see my words come alive.” -Right Twig writer, age 18

READ ON FOR MORE DETAILS about the course and apply by 16th October!

RIGHT TWIG: RADIO 2020 participants will take part in a series of free online workshops, and rehearsal and recording sessions -  learning about scriptwriting and radio production straight from writers, directors, performers, designers, dramaturgs, and other creative professionals. In-depth drama and writing sessions will support each writer as they develop. These brand-new radio plays will be recorded for broadcast live on Sunday 13th December at The Playhouse. Professional directors and actors will give fresh voice to the characters and stories, revealing the wild imagination and weeks of hard work the writers have put in.
